NEW ORLEANS—
When you look at Emelina Edwards, you’ll never guess her age.
“If I can feel this good at 71 and look this good at 71, I know when I’m 75 and 80 I can look even better,” Edwards said.
Edwards is a grandmother of three kids. She’s not your typical grandma because she’s a personal trainer. She helps others workout in her Uptown home studio.
For generations people have been searching for the Fountain of Youth. She feels she’s found it.
“It’s muscle. The single most important key to the Fountain of Youth is muscle. Muscles are responsible for the vitality of our whole body,” she said.
She works out for an hour daily and eats mainly vegetables. Another aspect to her youthful regime is cleansing her mind through meditation to eliminate stress.
“Meditation has helped me to see things more clearly to stop being reactive and being more proactive,” she said.
Edwards wants others to be inspired by how great she feels and looks at 71 years old. Emelina’s advice can be found in her book, “Forever Fit and Fabulous: A Guide To Health and Vigor-Even at 70 and Beyond.” Her book can be found on Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.
Emelina’s not afraid of getting older because she feels forever young.
“We are not victims of aging. The body simply responds to the decisions we make. I know when I’m 100 I will be in just as good of health as I am today,” she energetically said.
